turns , terrain, and weather

Thanks for your input todate. Here is a collection of my thinking at this point. Please feel free to participate in this on going discussion. Your contributions are appreciated. Tell your A&A friends about this so they have a chance to voice what they want in A-A&A. I'll update the the original posting as changes and new ideas are adopted or contemplated.

Help me out here L-Bow, the pic is too big. Make it a bit smaller.

MOUNTAIN PASSES IN ASIA.

As we can all see the Asian playground is habitated by lots of high
mountains. Combat move through mountain passes works different
than combat moves in plain fields. We are talking bottlenecks here,
that only allow one land unit to pass each combat round.
Aircrafts are of course not affected.

Say bye-bye to Japanese Tank push to Moscow.
With the passes and extra territories Japan will act closer to history.

Do mind impassable Himalaya, the plastic mountains leave no room for
arguing. (Anyway, the mountains are made by soft plastic from an Eagle
Game, melted into a selfmade mold made by this white powder.)

BOTTLENECKS

Both mountain passes and canals/straits/channels should work as
bottlenecks, only allowing one unit to pass each combat round.
(All non-combat moves are of course not affected.)
This new system will give bottleneck places an strategig value, just as
in real world.

TERRITORIES AND SEA-ZONES

Many of the House Rule maps have too many territories and sea-zones.
This is my favourite, Germany looks like pre-ww2, Central Europe looks
like Austria-Hungari, and Balkan is in its real position.
With this borders and colours a ww1 scenario can be played, too.

Niorway is two territories, because from top to bottom is the same distance
as from Denmark to bottom Italy.
Attacking North Norway from Karelia is extremely difficoult, much
mountains and marshes, few roads, no railway. Historically it had to be
done through North Finland.
Moving from South Norway to North Norway by land was impossible in -42.
We Norwegians use ships/boats, the railroad and roads go through Sweden
because of the high arctic mountains.

The Mediterranean didn't make it on this picture thanks to Jack Daniels,
so I'll try to make it later.
