Strategic Bombing Raids procedure:
• Escorts fire @1, and interceptor casualties are immediately removed.
• Bombers fire @ 1 and interceptors fire @ 2. Remove bomber and interceptor casualties (escorts may be taken as casualties only after all bombers are eliminated).

This is a bit confusing. On the second bullet point, are those defending tactical bombers? I thought only fighters could defend.

Also, If escorts are to be taken as casualties ONLY after all strategic bombers are eliminated, then what is the point of the escorts?? I thought they were supposed to protect the strategic bomber during the raid.

A little help, please?
How do you sink Italy's fleet in U1? We've played in a number of different ways but it is always UK who gets ousted out of the Mediterranean in the end. Italy fortifies Gibraltar and takes over North Africa and the Middle East - regardless of player. We never have to 'save Italy'. Quite the contrary.

I have a question about the new Victory Conditions for the Axis, which are listed as follows:
  • Victory for the axis if they control 6 of the 8 victory cities on the Pacific board.
  • Victory for the axis if they control 8 of the 11 victory cities on the Europe board.
Pardon my ignorance, but must BOTH of these conditions exist in order for the Axis to win, or may only ONE of these conditions exist in order for the Axis to win?

(In other words, no Axis victory unless 14 victory cities are under its control--6 in the Pacific, 8 in Europe--or, perhaps an Axis victory with only 6 victory cities in the Pacific and only the two Axis capitals in Europe?)

Pick a sea zone and go for it? What are you looking for here? Figure out the odds and attack. UK is going to come out the worse in some games just due to dice, but most games they are going to sink one or two transports even if Germany parks planes. The odds are on your side to do a good deal of damage. Use the French ships if there's an opportunity.

Also, units can come over from India, and you should be able to get to Iraq first and clear out the neutral troops. Gibraltar and Morocco shouldn't be held by Italy for any longer than it takes for the US to enter the war. If Italy is able to keep dumping troops in Gibraltar, you've already fallen down somewhere earlier where the UK had the upper hand.

No, they are attacking bombers, both strategic and tactical (tactical in base raids only). Only fighters may act as interceptors (defend).

They do, by shooting down interceptors before they can fire.
