Color of Japanes Units - Red, Orange, Both?

Naval strategy and wise economic moves are both critical in waging this far-flung war across an entire hemisphere. To the familiar elements from Axis & Allies, Axis & Allies: Pacific adds convoys, island air and naval bases, kamikazes, destroyers, and the Chinese army.

Color of Japanes Units - Red, Orange, Both?

Post by PDXDuck » Wed Oct 13, 2010 6:41 pm

I purchased an opened AAP game that had orange units but keep seeing red Japanese units on ebay. Did I get a game cobbled together from other A&A Japanese units or were there two different colors used in different production runs?

Possibly the same thing with the Chinese infantry, I have red units but have also seen a brown color on ebay.

Thanks

Welcome, PDXDuck!

There were indeed multiple print runs of the game. The earlier runs had red Japanese pieces and brown Chinese ones. The later runs had orange Japanese pieces and red Chinese ones.

Thanks Krieg, glad to hear this set appears to be correct (by color at least).

Now I need a copy of the earlier run too!

No. The map and setup didn't change between print runs.

Th official Japanese army uniform color is this color: RGB 123, 108, 62.
This is the link of the description on wiki:
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/国防色
Although it doesn't have English name for it, the name literally means national defense color. It is the color used to avoid spotted by air unit and can be blend into the forrest more effectively. Then I saw in movie some Japanese officer has some white shirt wear underneath their uniform, which sorta destroy the whole purpose of the camouflage.
