I join my dear friend Sergente_nella_neve in asking to reconsider the possibility of having the Italian miniatures customized.
In fact if you did a good job for Axis & Allies 1942, remember that it is the cheaper version of the entire series, reproducing the Russians miniatures do not see why to persist in don’t wanting to achieve the Italian miniatures in the incoming A&A Europe 1940 that is proposed as a product of high range.
One of the things I always appreciated in the games of Larry Harris, in addition to the playability and perfect balance for a "light war-game," is also the aesthetic appearance.
Fine maps and beautiful miniatures that have always distinguished all games.
If you made the Russian naval miniatures, and I challenge anyone to buy at least once in the game and place them at least once on the board, and if the new miniatures were made for the Chinese Army in the forthcoming Pacific 1940 (which of course I already preordained…) I see don’t see any reason for not to build new miniatures (hoping not brown ...) even for Italy.
And then ... let's be honest ... but we want really compare the profile of the Littorio with the Russian battleship that looks like a barge load?

You need to post this plea on the Avalonhill/WOTC website. They are the ones that can change this- whether by e-mail or phone.

P.S. They won't listen. :( Seriously- I have plenty of experience with them.

I don't see the problem everyone has with all of these little things. I think brown is fine for Italy, and I personally don't give a crap about the molds used. All I really care about is the map and gameplay.

When I spend $100 on a game, the pieces had better be molded well (which they were not in AA50) and be pretty enough. At these prices, the game better be display quality, otherwise why am I paying this kind of money? They suckered me once - not going to happen again.

As for user friendliness, I am tired of re-sorting my Russians and Italians b/c people are dumping them in to the wrong boxes due to colour mix ups. And for quick references of VCs, the map is not designed well.

Hasbro set a standard back with AA Europe with mostly nation specific pieces. There really isn't any going back now.

I agree here. The product overall is fantastic. Its just that on a site like this and other AAsites there are so many WW2 nit-picky freaks that no matter how many improvements you make it would never be enough for them- no matter what the price was.

The map is superb, accessories are great and the pieces with colors are just fine. Way better than most games in this genre of war/strategy that I have ever seen.

By the way, I'm not into the AAMinis however, AH/WOTC does a fantastic job on these- the whole line makes "Tide of Iron", "Memoir 44", and "Attack" look like garbage. :P

I understand the demand for individuality with Italy. The Med is going to be expanded dramatically in AA40 as will all the seas. That combined with ports, airstrips and possibly new rules regarding straights should promote more naval builds. I personally think Italy is getting short changed hear. If you are making it a full power then treat it like one. In most of the AA50 games I have played Italy generally has more surface fleet then Germany, this may hold true for AA40 as well. As for the brown color, a light gray (silver) would have been a better choice (IMO). That way it wouldn't get confused with the Russian maroon or the new Anzac coppery brown (taupe as Krieg calls it). With that said there are other things that I listed earlier in this post that would be higher on my list. It all comes down to economics. I'm not real happy about cardboard starting to replace certain units/sculpts :( , and I think that is true for the vast majority including our Italian friends. I am going to enjoy the hell out both AA40 games though.

I just want to know about the map.

Azors?

Please don't tell me you have that silly territory that streaches all the way from Normandy to Spain?

Naming the North Africa Territories would be nice, as well.
