From a discription of the "new" game on the block. Notice how they decided how victory conditions work:

The game explores the modern combat tactics of World War II and the usage of combined arms, with a new innovative battle system. The battle wheels for land and sea combat reduce die-rolling luck and promote the use of well-balanced forces.

Players represent German East and West fronts, the Soviet Union and the Western Powers. In the 3 and 4 player variants players have to balance co-operation with competition since only one player can win the game.

Each player has access to various resources such as different ground troops, warships, aircraft and industrial regions. In turn, each player produce new troops, move units and engage in battle when confronted with the enemy. The goal is to take control over enemy production centres.

The game is quick to learn with a comic-book tutorial and short rules, and quick to set up with starting positions illustrated on the game board.

The game includes 360 sculpted plastic playing pieces of 8 different types, a mounted game board and two mounted battle wheels, dice and markers, a comic-book tutorial and a rules booklet with historical background

Looks like some of their ideas came from this forum, which is fine:

---The goal is to take control over enemy production centres
---quick to set up with starting positions illustrated on the game board
---In the 3 and 4 player variants players have to balance co-operation with competition since only one player can win the game.

i like adlertags thread, pointing out a more adult orientation to this version, and sphere of influence for victory 8)

'AXIS WIN

*The axis player that first reach his "Empire building" goals, end the game and are the individual winner.

*The German player must occupie all territories from France to Ural. This was the historical "Lebensraum" goal. (12 territories)
*The Italian player must occupie all territories that once was part of the Roman Empire. (12 territories)
*The Japanese player must occupie all territories in Pacific and E.Asia. (12 territories)

ALLIES WIN

*When the allied players have eleminated Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito (new plastic pieces, or tokens at least), the game end. This reflect the Nurenberg Trials to the war criminal leaders that commited genocide. Once a leader is eleminated, his country is out of the war.

*UK and USA win as a team, since their war goal was "Status que ante bellum". They got 1 victory point for each liberated neutral minor.
*Sovjet win individually. Her war goal was world communism, and she got 1 victory point for each occupied neutral minor or axis territory. '

...lets not forget this is a game for people who already know how to game the larry harris series, and can handle more advanced concepts and still hold the flavor of the game...

really like the allied get the "bad guy" objective...

this one kills me, nurenberg trials...??? id like some play by play on this 8)

an empire version can be optional play...

The individual winner could be the player that reaches his goal first, while the "team" winner could be the first team in which 2 out of 3 nations reach their goals.

I think thats how it should work and how it did work during the war. Soviets came in first USA second, UK third.- but allies won as team.

I really like the idea of the Axis leader token/ chip piece. I can see it now "Hitler escapes to Argentina!" I don't think that Tojo, Mussolini, or Hitler should add combat modifiers however, because for the most part they were incompetent military commanders. Especially Hitler whose bad decision making on the Eastern Front likely caused the German defeat. I don't think this would even be a PR problem because in keeping with Larry's own idea of "Germany winning not Hitler" the Allies win by capturing Hitler not Germany.

Once again forgive my tardiness in this thread. :oops:

...Hitler's leadership for the last hafe, of the war was poor, it seemed the Allies wanted him to stay in power (they did not want someone intelligent like Rommel running Germany). Thanks, Pellulo
