Japanese piece colour

Post by Flashman » Fri Feb 25, 2005 8:50 am

National colours seem to be prety clear, assuming we go with the black/grey option for Germany/Italy.

But what about Japan?

Yellow: I always had a problem distinguishing Japan from UK pieces in the MB version.

White: My choice, but some may like to reserve white for neutral pieces.

Orange: Perhaps too close to tan and/or red-brown.

Red: Again, too close to Soviet colour.

Blue: Seems to work, but may be reserved for French pieces.

Ahh nice poll. We should have the same for USSR, and Britain. Yellow is symbolic of the rising sun over asia. Its also the color (more or less) of Japanese uniforms. Red is for china units, Russian virtues are with their soil that was died for fighting Germans, so an earth brown is a perfect color to symbolize the workers struggle. They go from toiling fields and plows to loading rifles, and building tanks. Any other color for Soviet union is an utter disgrace.

German military forces of the third Reich have allways been feld grau (field grey) Black should be reserved for SS units only but the game wont have any

British should be kaiki, since thats the color of their uniform . That revised color is horrible.
We really need an Axis and Allies World War one game so i can play that on August 1st, 2014.

My vote was Yellow, it just fits the Japanese to me, mainly from the stories my great uncle told me about his days on a DD in the pacific fighting the "Yellow Bastards" who attacked Pearl while they slept.

I have no hate for the Japanese people and mean no disrespect, it's just the way i've always pictured the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, just as I'm of German descent, and think of Germans from the war as "kraut's".

Nice job there!

The Zeros look particularly good (and authentic) in white, which is partially why I settled on this colour.

yes flash, youve changed my opinion on my preferred color for japan...

it seems even in this day, that "yellow" is in fact insulting to the asian population, i think even if it offends a few, we need to be sensitive to it...i will still use regular uniform colors for my custom figures, but will be converting my japanese army to white...black, grey, and white for axis really makes sense to me...
