Thanks for your input todate. Here is a collection of my thinking at this point. Please feel free to participate in this on going discussion. Your contributions are appreciated. Being able to defend an adjacent sea zone or land territory is a "must have" addition to the game. It could be used instead of trying to make a Port and or Airport piece.
There are rules dealing with this topic in several A&A expansions.
I've played these and the game is enhanced and much more "realistic".
