The war in North-Africa was of no importance. The Italians fought their little colonial war against bedouin tribes over there and got their asses kicked by the Brits. The Germans got sucked in to prevent loss of face for the Italians, who later betrayed them after the invasion of Italy. The war in North-Africa prevented combat units from being sent to where the real war was fought and eventually lost, namely on the eastern front. Finish war would be as relevant, maybe more so.

Educate me ... maybe the name Omar Mukhtar sounds familiar? Maybe it's just that I regard Italians as untrustful cowards.

North Africa certainly was not the main front in the War but say that it does not matter is historically incorrect.
I do not want to dwell because - unfortunately - in this forum too often we go very out off topic; but I can say that if Alexandria had fallen... beh this front it would became very but veeery hot for the Allies...

Loss of the Suez Canal, get the access to the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, access to oil from the Middle East, probably unite the German-Italian armies in the Caucasus.

My opinion is that we'd never managed to win the war but certainly we have lost it at Stalingrad and El Alamein.

Fortunately in our forum Axis & Allies Italian Forum (http://axisandallies.forumup.it/index.p ... sandallies) do not ever go off topic and there is never lowered to insults or any personal offenses...

Off topic ...
Possibly, since we're discussing a new game setting. I gave my thoughts on why I think the war in North-Afrika was not very relevant (oil fields in the Middle East were an objective but mostly it was about Italian colonialism and pride). Maybe I was being provocative; I'm sorry for that.

Personal insult ...
Hardly, just call it an opinion shared by many (even by your "Allies").
