Re: What's next for A&A?

ps. when thinking of House Rules that could be incorporated to increase randomization of the start, the ones which interest me most are the ones that vary opening purchase strategies. I think its definitely possible to make a fixed-unit-set-up game, of the sort that A&A is, but still find ways to al...

Re: What's next for A&A?

Who's complaining? :) All I'm saying is, if you want to reconstitute the franchise under a new name, then it makes sense to lead off with World War II. Call it War Room: World War II (from the creator of Axis and Allies)... can't copyright a factual statement. Watch me line up to buy it like I do al...

Re: What's next for A&A?

War Room! That's the one I want to hear more about :D I have very little interest in Axis and Allies games that try to cover periods other than the second world war. I recognize the power of the brand, and I can see how the 1914-18 conflict could be be brought into the franchise under the same "A&A"...

Re: Roll for turn order

I have been playing games using the variable start system outlined above for most of the month. Starting on the 4th, Independence Day Rules, and wrapping up the first round of playtesting before we kick into Aug. I am playing principly with my buddy Tony for the long FTF games, and solitaire for the...

Re: Roll for turn order

I have been staying up late at night, once again, trying to develop a workable system for this on an existing A&A board. :D This is the system I am currently exploring on the AA50 board, using the 1942 start date for now. Set the board as normal Standard turn order, J-R-G-UK-IT-USA (I always lay the...

Re: Removing Factories: Replacing them with VCs

I believe I have just hit on a solution to our issues! I'm interested to hear what you think VC = Victory City VC = Victory Complex, (or Victory Center, or Victory Core, whatever seems best) Victory Complexes produce units. They represent industrial centers or cores within a territory. They can be s...

Re: Removing Factories: Replacing them with VCs

I wish I had a teacher that awesome back when I was in school! A&A is such a fantastic tool for teaching. You end up retaining a lot of information through gameplay, that might otherwise get lost just trying to memorize by rote, and have fun at the same time. My first intro to Classic was on a rainy...

Re: Removing Factories: Replacing them with VCs

Ok let me clarify what I mean by "historical accuracy." A game which models real world production perfectly, but which fails to encourage fighting in those areas where the war actually occurred, is basically failing in what should be it's primary objective. Preferable to this is a game which departs...
