Re: Deffinition of "Combat" in 2nd and 3rd edition

I understand what your saying Kriegs, I just don't agree with the process. I trust your rulings.

This just seems to be flawed. The book encourages you to move as many units as possible when attacking (pg 4. CM) and an amphibious assault is a CM.

Re: Deffinition of "Combat" in 2nd and 3rd edition

Craig is right. A land unit moving into an unoccupied enemy-controlled territory is a combat movement, as it will take control of the territory (see page 12 of the rulebook). However, air and sea units may only make combat movements when actual combat will result (or to avoid combat when they begin...

Re: Deffinition of "Combat" in 2nd and 3rd edition

For a unit to move in CM it has to participate in a combat situation. The battleship doesn't fire in the above combat, so it can't move during CM. Page 4 2nd Edition rules "Combat Movement: In this phase move your units into territories or sea zones occupied by your enemies to engage in combat" A s...

Deffinition of "Combat" in 2nd and 3rd edition

Situation : UK air attacks German sub and transport in North Sea; the UK transport in Labrador load the East Canada tank to unload and take unoccupied French West Africa; in the mean time, the West Med. Sea (Gibraltar) battleship moves beside FWA with the transport. The Axis player says it’s not le...

Re: Rules clarification for Axis and Allies 3rd edition

The computer doesn't do a good job of enforcing those rules. The Hasbro CD-Rom game will let you move through canals without owning them, before player made patches wouldn't allow air units to buy neutrals and allows transports to split anytime. The programing has flaws in it that will allow players...

Re: Rules clarification for Axis and Allies 3rd edition

Thanks Krieg, but was this rule continued into 3rd edition? This is where its in question. The club plays mainly 3rd edition and the only rulebook for 3rd edition is the game manual provided with the Hasbro CD version of Axis and Allies. This manual was very poorly created. It appears to be a cut-n-...

Re: Rules clarification for Axis and Allies 3rd edition

Larry, Do you concur with Kriegs findings? This has created a very good debate in my club. The argument is the rule book doesn't say you "can't split" on combat phase and only gives an example of splitting on non-combat. My rebuttal is the rulebook clearly states in the example "you must control bot...
