Re: G42 Set-Up Rules for Alpha +3

I hardly believe some of the dumb things posted on here. Stupid Conspiracy theories everywhere. 1 - Larry made Global 42 specifically because G40 was too long for much interest in FTF tournament play. 2 - Larry made the scenario, and Greg did not have any heavy handed input. Just another example of ...

1942 second ed - VC question

PLEASE tell me that Hawaii was (and is) a VC and that my second edition map is not screwed up.

It makes things SO much simpler for Gencon tournament formats to have an odd # of VC's....

Re: Alternate 1941 setup for Global

Some of the arguments are limited by the lack of knowledge of AAE40. But that will soon be resolved at Gencon. What I will say, however, is that Japan still must "do" certain things. Basically, move south. Larry has "made" it so that while Japan can in theory attack Russia...they wont. I know you wa...

Re: A&A: Resistance to the digital age

For the sake of discussion, I should point out that TripleA is not the only PC-based A&A application. GameTable Online also provides a way to play A&A electronically (which is officially licensed by Avalon Hill). Electronic media are not being completely ignored. They do not have all of the differe...

Re: Alternate 1941 setup for Global

Squirecam, do you think a late 1941 setup would work in a tournament? Before pearl harbor but after barbarosa. It seems like an interesting starting date to me, and it hasnt been done before. Lets take a look at a "late" 1941 setup... I take it Germany would be somewhere "between" the AA50-41 setup...

Re: Alternate 1941 setup for Global

Why dont you play 1 game of it (14 hrs) for 4 days straight. Then you will see how unreasonable your request is. Not to mention, People play OTHER games than A&A. The tournament games are supposed to be fair, but available to all who want to play. A 14 hr time commitment is not readily available to...

Re: Alternate 1941 setup for Global

Also about the 8-10 hr time limit. Since it is impossible to get in 2 rounds in one day, teams might as well play all day (12-14 hrs.) and get a "quality" game in with the 1940 version or an alternate 41 which just cuts off the political stuff and not the variations. Most people are not going to pl...
