Re: Imperial Russia

Can't wait for this game to be released. I'm pre-ordering it. It feels like a bit of a mix between Axis & Allies: D-Day and Diplomacy. Axis & Allies: D-Day had this "one-round attack" while the map most certainly looks like Diplomacy in terms of area covered and speed of movement (ground units only ...

Re: Report from the Front Turn One

You could argue that "Rail Movement" is represented by IPC's. Germany, having an extensive rail network, earns a lot of IPC's each turn which can be used to mobilise new units. I hope that new infantry units can be produced in other places than a capital, but I guess from what I've read so far this ...

Re: Operation Sea Lion in Global 1940 Alpha 1+

Well, not only can you make it harder for Germany with only one sub, but with several you could threaten to shoot the fleet out from under his nose, especially if Germany lost some naval units in G1. All those fighters scrambling from the mainland is not going to make one ounce of difference if Germ...

Re: ALPHA +.2 THEORY CRAFTING THREAD

You could always paint parts of the infantry miniature to denote special abilities. So marines would have, say, a white base and white helmet (for all nations) to denote them from other infantry. Ofcourse, make sure that you take paint that actually sticks to the miniature (you might have to clean t...

Re: Pocket Battles?

While the "1 infantry buffer" worked quite well in the original Axis & Allies and also in Revised edition, with Italy being a separate power this is no longer the case. Just 2 Italian infantry with some air power on the front lines will punch a gap in the screen which the German Tanks and Mechanized...

Re: Operation Sea Lion in Global 1940 Alpha 1+

How about countering SeaLion as the UK with a buy of 3 subs at the right time? Using a UK destroyer to block the Danish Straight at the right time, then buy 3 subs just before Germany wants to move its fleet out to the UK. Subs cannot be attacked by Air Power unless there is a destroyer present shou...

Re: Enough is Enough Already

Well, I think that the problem stems from the fact that, while Pacific and Europe separately may be balanced the Global game definitely favours the Allies as they are the ones to benefit from having two boards. USA can choose to sink more IPC into Europe than they could in the separate europe game, ...

Re: Early Alpha Game Play Observations

Well, Fighters cannot attack a territory and then defend it from a counter attack. But I think the Tank is now too expensive. Sure, I understand that a Mech Inf cannot be as cheap as an Inf and therefore should be 4. But if you buy a Mech Inf at 4, why not buy a tank at 5 IPC? You get too much for y...
